About

I moved to NYC with grandiose ideas of succes, where I would be immersed in a  community of equally driven, style obsessed people and then it would turn out like a musical every day. I tend to have over-the-top expectations even in daily life.

After moving away from everyone I knew, the day after I married my best friend, reality set in quickly. My life here is amazing but it takes time and a lot of hard work to find and invest in a completely new life and community. The challenge is worth it, the lessons learned will stay with me for life, and I AM a stronger person for doing this.

Follow your dreams, dear one. Just do it.

This blog is a style and beauty blog, focusing on daily makeup looks, style tips [I am queen of reworking a wardrobe], and recreations of paintings and illustrations with makeup. I am newly a special effects makeup artist so you will see some gross creations on here. I love beauty in the not so beautiful.

About me:

I was born and raised in Arkansas with only a three month stint in London during college to break up my life there. While kids in high school were deciding on what new and trendy item would enhance their image, I was reworking my closet continually because I loved the challenge. My dad recently sent me this comic strip because I TRIED TO FIT MY BED INTO MY CLOSET so I could have more room to work.

I always knew I wanted to work in the fashion industry and it has been the past few years that taught me-makeup application is my skill set. I couldn't be more giddy than when I have my kit spread out and a face on which to "paint". And I desire to continually learn more  of my craft.

I am married to my best friend, Nik, who is my other self. He challenges me to be my best self, strive for personal success, and to reach for my dreams. I look up to him in so many ways.
